Sqrl: "The good news, then, is that they've got a good chew, a tender middle with a slight crunch to the exterior, and they're all around tasty biscuits."

Woof: "And the bad news?"

Sqrlmog: "They're fucking UGLY."

Woof: "Yeah, I'm no good at shaping dough. I just wanted to like, get them on a pan without worrying about taking twenty minutes squooshing them into a perfect shape."

Sqrlmog: "Congratulations. You did not get anywhere near a perfect shape."

[here is where there would be a picture, if we had not eaten the evidence so quickly]

Woof: "I made Fuglybiscuits. It's a new tradition. Get used to it, I still can't shape dough."

Sqrlmog: "Next time, perhaps cheesefuglybiscuits?"

Woof: "Possibly a good idea."

*silence, chewing*

Sqrlmog: "Anyway if you REALLY can't shape 'em, just squoosh 'em as flat as possible and we'll have crackers."

Then you'd have rectangular biscuits. As long as you're okay with that.

Wow. I didn't realize that the shape of a biscuit could have such a big effect on the experience of eating it. Maybe rig up a 3D printer to put together some Platonic solids?

A clean drinking glass dipped in flour makes a good substitution for a biscuit cutter (looks like a cookie cutter, but is a plain circle).

The last biscuit of the bunch will remain ugly as I don't waste any biscuit dough and cram all the little bits together.

Yeah, this is totally what I'd do if I wanted to punch out some biscuits!

I vaguely recall kneading the extra bits back into a ball, flattening it, then punching out one last one, but... Maybe just folding it over on itself would work?

Let's try this again as it didn't thread under your reply originally...

For the last one, I roll the bits back together, but the biscuit cutter over it and then flatten the dough down to it is sort of round. The top will be flat, but it'll be mostly round like the others.

I usually just make drop biscuits.

So called because you just drop a spoonful of dough on the baking sheet. They wind up like a lump of bready stuff.

But tasty.
