Dream of Last Night - Being Like Claire

Dreamt about a public-access-y show beloved by kids and enjoyed by adults, called "Being Like Claire".

Claire was a middle-aged dragon lady, and every episode she'd come in and Do Something. She'd bustle around and talk about what she wanted to do that day and then *boop* shrink herself to play in the flower beds, finger-paint by having paint come out of her fingers, grow extra arms to wash dishes... all kinds of stuff.

Then at the end, anyone who wanted to could touch the screen and *boop* they could Be Like Claire for 24 hours. Kid, parent, whatever. Try out extra arms or be shrunk or paint the walls, which she made sure to point out would ALSO fade after 24 hours because she's not a monster.

I got the impression the show was just Claire's hobby, like no one had actually asked her to be on TV and give people extra limbs or whatever, she just thought it was a fun thing to do and nobody had seen fit to stop her and now there were six seasons worth of her doing this and all the VHS tapes had the same effect as the live shows, so the cat was miles out of the bag and accelerating.

Now that I'm awake I have a sort of wistful sadness that this of course cannot possibly be a real thing for reasons I wish were not obvious ones.

You know, that's a children's show I could have gotten into if it were real.

That would have been an excellent show, and if all copies in all media retained the magic, then I feel like everyone would have Be Like Claire in their collections.
