Recordkeeping: Tail of the Sun COMPLETE
May. 15th, 2022 07:29 pmWell, this was a delightful oddity that I used to hate, but grew on me rapidly over time. Tail of the Sun (playlist link) was a game from my youth I never imagined actually HAD an ending, let alone multiple endings. I thought it was a bland exploration simulator, an endless plain of randomly-generated polygons peppered with inscrutable sprites.
I buckled down, I played it to the end, and I was actually delighted with it. It's an exploration simulator, true, but the things you find in that endless plain are surprising and unpredictable. There are game-altering power-ups and interesting surprises. There's a whole sliding-scale stat management system. There are endings. There are MULTIPLE endings.
This was a delight to stream for me, and I'm happy to have found it again. I'm even happier to have finished with it, if I'm honest. It does start to mentally wear after a while. But if there's a game I'm thrilled to have mark my re-entry into streaming, it's this one.
