Recordkeeping Omno COMPLETE
Mar. 17th, 2022 07:42 amOmno is very much in the "Art Game" pile. Created mostly by one person, an ex-animator who got a big heap of money from Epic after they saw the demo and kickstarter success, it really FEELS like a game that involved a whole bunch of people. But, one guy. First game.
Geez, man, leave some success for the rest of us.
Omno is quiet, atmospheric. Beautiful music, when the music kicks in. You're kind of a lumpy potato person (and in the game) who is on a sort of religious pilgrimage to find The Gate to The Light. For company you have a magic staff and a flying potato of a squirrel-thing.
Everyone loves weird squirrel-shaped things, right?
(Aside: Why so many games about THE LIGHT, anyway? Why not a game where you're seeking the calm quiet comfort of darkness?)
Anyway, you adventure across beautiful landscapes, interacting with odd animals, solving puzzles and using your staff as an increasingly large number of magical effects, reading diaries about The Staffbearers of Olden Times.
It's a good game. It's a lovely world. I have nothing negative to say here. I'd recommend it. Played it on Game Pass and feel slightly guilty I did that, which means it's working. Strong, strong little game. Whatever Studio Inkyfox does next, I'm here for it. I just hope they build a team for it. Doing it all yourself at this quality level HAS to be exhausting.
