I just bought a brand-new sparkling-ass computer which will be here around my birthday in March. I'll be turning 40. I don't want to turn 40. I didn't want to turn 30. 20 wasn't so hot either.
Anyway, I bought a new computer because midlife crisis stuff is a thing, so this may be the last time I post from the venerable Pinkstation NEO. Probably not, I can beat more games in two weeks maybe? but we're getting up against the life limit of this pink box and I'm sad of that. It's suffering bluescreens, the USB systems don't always work which leaves me rebooting over and over trying to keyboard my way into my system... it's just, y'know. Suffering old age. Like me! So it's time to get a better version. Like m--
wait no.
Anyway it's a little fitting that the last game I played on this system is ... a Game Boy game. Final Fantasy Legend came out back in the early nineties, a rebrand of the first SaGa game, and as a Well Known Kawazu Lover I had to scoop up the collection that recently came out because, look, I had to. Okay?
This still has one of the best finales of any game out there, particularly if you happen to know the very famous bug that lets you end the last boss battle in a single grand sweeping middle-finger of a gesture. The trip there is pretty good too, being chased by a phoenix across the ruins of old Tokyo is not something I've DONE in other games and, well, you can see the invention and limit-pushing here.
I've got two more of these to play. I might do it before the new PC, or I might use that $2500 hunk of superhardware to play my Game Boy games because I'm a doddering oldie who will never truly know what it means to be "with it" again. Can't say, really. But... I'm almost 40 and I'm still playing video games.
My life hasn't been so bad, if I can say that.
