xyzzysqrlHard Reset Redux is a video game. It is EXTREMELY a video game. It keeps score. There's a wave-based survival mode. You shoot robots. You'd be hard-pressed to find a more "video game" video game. It's great. The future is here and everything needs to be destroyed.
You start off in a city. The city is grungy and full of things to destroy. You move out of the city into the countryside. The countryside is grungy and full of things to destroy. Nothing good ever happens to any of these places. Destroy them. The future is here and everything needs to be destroyed.
The game has a plot. It doesn't matter. You don't have to care. The plot ends on a cliffhanger. The developers have moved on. Listen: You're a man with a transforming gun. The gun can shoot bullets or energy. You can upgrade the gun to shoot rockets or lightning or bombs or lasers. You can shoot robots with the gun, but critically: You can shoot EVERYTHING with the gun. The future is here and everything needs to be destroyed.
If you shoot a car with the gun, the car will explode. If you shoot a barrel with the gun, the barrel will explode. If you shoot a wall fan with the gun, the wall fan will explode. If these things explode next to enemies, the enemies will explode. Then more barrels will explode and a wall will explode and secrets will fall out of it. The secrets will play a guitar riff like the opening of the KLF track "3 AM Eternal". That's rad. If you see something and you think it will explode, you should shoot it. The future is here and everything needs to be destroyed.
You also have a sword. It's an energy sword. It goes whom vrrm and makes things explode. I'm not going to tell you that running directly at a horde of robots waving a glowing piece of metal is always a good tactical move. I am going to tell you it's an awesome tactical move and I salute you for it. How you choose to destroy things is up to you. The future is here and everything needs to be destroyed.
