I just realized I never did the expansion pack dungeon. Crap.

But I DID finish Dragon's Dogma. I don't usually go leaping on brand new games, given my tremendous backlog, but this was special. The PC version of the game fixes everything I disliked about the console version, plus you can still play it with a gamepad!

This game was FANTASTIC. Very "classic western fantasy" mixed with a Japanese sense of flair. I feel like I can't say anything about the story without spoiling something but that's okay because the story sits on the back burner most of the game, bubbling up little hints. If you don't do a lot of the sidequests you'll be like "...wtf happened with that" so the game rewards exploration and experimentation that way.

The combat and dungeon exploration are the real reasons to play this game. I bounced between Magic Archer and Sorcerer for most of the game, so I was doing things like shooting homing lasers and summoning up 20-foot tall whirlwinds and setting everything around me on fire and basically I felt like the boss of a Touhou game.

Dragon's Dogma gets the ultimate act of love from me: It stays installed and I will probably new-game-plus into playing even MORE of it later, when I'm not doing something else.
