I wasn't sure if I should count this as a "game complete" or not, but then I remembered I counted the ACIV "Freedom Cry" DLC as its own thing, so... screw it, consistency over sanity.

With AC: Syndicate coming out soon I've been kinda twitching for new stabberings. Liberation didn't leave me satisfied enough, so I went back and pulled AC III out of the vault and went back to that three-episode DLC I didn't do before. It's ... pretty okay? I actually may have enjoyed this more than the main game, except that it loved to send 20+ dudes after you at a time going for the treasure chests and oh my god the combat engine is kind of a pain in huge group fights.

With some differences (crazy animal magic powers, because why the fuck not) this was more of the Assassiny goodness I wanted. Lots of chances to stab a guard in the dong and hurl him into the ocean, which is uncomfortably my signature move in this series. Good fun for everyone.

Once I'd beaten the pretty-decent end boss fight with King Washington atop the half-built pyramid he was building in ruined New York, I glanced briefly at the main game and saw I was 55% complete, so I loaded that up. After about an hour I realized why I'd left it at 55% and shut it down again.

Still, fun DLC romp.

Yeah. AC3 was one of the most annoying of the AC games to 100%. Eeeeverything had optional objectives. (One requires you to sink ships by first exposing their powder stores. There are three in the level; you need to sink two. It's random for it to happen.) And you had to fill out the map. And collect everything. I'm not sure how I found the patience.

I actually made it through AC3 if only to see more Kenway.

Anyway, that fight with King Washington sounds pretty rad. The series really needed more Pope-punching moments.
