At this point I'm comfortable saying the Assassin's Creed games are my favorite big-game franchise. Interesting creative alt-history/conspiracy wackiness, the chance to run around and stab people, and every game seems to do something interesting and varied along with the incremental improvements to the formula. In this case, it's assassinating people WITH A PIRATE SHIP.
...which... is not really why I play Assassin's Creed, so I was kinda meh on the piracy stuff. I preferred the land-based missions. If you've ever wondered, "Does anyone really enjoy the missions where you follow people around in stealth?" the answer is yes, I do. If you've ever wondered "does anyone enjoy the modern-day parts", the answer is also yes, I do. I seem to enjoy everything everyone else hates about these games, but fuck all of them I don't care anymore. At this point I'm really only in it for myself. Sorry, rest of world. Cope.
I'm about three games behind on the series now, and will probably be getting an upgraded PC in December or so for purposes of playing Unity. I hope the multiplayer co-op focus doesn't make it terrible in single-player.
