I've always liked this series and I've always liked Raiden. I in fact find him one of the most likable characters in the series, which I understand is something of an... uncommon viewpoint. One thing I'm questionable on is fast-action "stylish character games". Devil May Cry bores me, f'example.
No worries here, though. Great game, EXCELLENT controls, the mechanics made me keep wanting to get better at actually playing the game, and of course the story is the usual delightful Metal Gear clusterfuck of people shouting ideological lectures at each other atop a giant robot and memes that have become memes about memes.
It took my until the last boss fight to realize I was doing Blade Mode wrong, though. Don't flick the stick across to slice, just hold a direction to line it up and then -release- it to neutral again and that'll cut with far more accuracy. I was chopping away like an amateur chef, not precisely cutting. Just going back with that knowledge would boost my ranks significently.
Speaking of ranks: Here're mine. Anyone who's played before care to weigh in on if these are any good for a first run through on Normal?
Let's see... OH. Also, with Kojima out of Konami, I kind of hope there's never a sequel to this game. Sunny, George, and Blade Wolf must not be touched by Sequelitius or murdered for a casual plot point. They must be PROTECTED, in a comfortable place in my memory where nothing can harm them. Leave those cute kids and their robot dog the hell alone, Konami.
