Life with Wolf and Sqrl: Video games.
Jun. 9th, 2012 08:44 pmSqrl, explaining why he is in despair: "So the new President of THQ basically sulked around going "Saint's Row 3... yeah, sure... but it wasn't Skyrim or Red Dead Redemption. Why not?" and now I'm a little worried about the fate of the sequel games."
Woof: "Actually... I agree with you. But I'm imagining a game that's like a cross between all three of those, and for some reason it just makes me think of Twilight Sparkle shouting "DRIVE US CLOSER, PINKIE PIE, I WANT TO HIT THEM WITH THIS SWORD!"
Sqrl: "...w-wow... I... might play that. Better than mine. I was imagining a game where you ride around on your motorhorse and then a knight in shining armor challenges you, so you shoot him with a chrome shotgun."
Woof: "Ah-ha. You basically want Painkiller, but with ridable mounts."
Sqrl: *open mouth* *close mouth* *open mouth* ... "Iaaaahhhhrum... ...y-ye... maybe? Yes?"
Woof: "Either way these won't get made."
Sqrl, Woof: *sad*

Date: 2012-06-10 03:22 am (UTC)THQ owns Relic Entertainment AND Volition.
And we don't have a Homeworld/Freespace crossover game. Or a space RTS where you can pop into the cockpit of a fighter and do some damage that way. This makes me grumpy, it does.

Date: 2012-06-10 06:18 am (UTC)Meanwhile Relic is busy churning out friggen awesome Warhammer 40k games, and I'm sure they're under some sort of contractual obligation to use said IP so often, or else loose it, which probably eats up a significant amount of dev time even if they were to do a non 40k game.
I'd love to see them turn Homeworld into the game that Eve Online's trailers want you to think that Eve Online is :D
