Ah, one of the three pillars that held up the PS2 Mascot Platformer scene. Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper. It's really weird to stand here and play Jak & Daxter for the very first time, knowing where the series wound up. I know that this first one is a pretty light, fluffy collect-everything platformer.
I know the sequel is about to take a hard swerve into Dark And Edgyville, being basically Grand Theft Auto Jr. I know from there it became a Mad Max style driving game on the edge of the apocalypse. Then it tried to go light again but with planes this time ... and the series crashed.
But from here the future looked bright and sunny. Cartoony, adorable squishy-stretchy polygons. Bright blue skies. Green grass. Little dinglebobbers to collect, and glow-balls, and all that fun stuff. EVERYBODY wears goggles. Everybody. Even the otter-weasel.
Felt nice.
