STAR WARS: Chinese Art Edition

So just a quick post here...

I want to point at these Chinese manhua redraws of Star Wars. Here's part one, and here's part two.

I LOVE these things. I love love love them. I love the way random vehicles appear and disappear, I love that Luke's hanger transforms into an oil rig mid-scene, I love Uncle Owen being played by Client Eastwood, I love Luke being played alternately by He-Man, Mark Hamill, and Kurt Russell, I love LEIA being literally a DIFFERENT ACTRESS every time she appears on screen, I particularly love Panel 48 Leia who looks like she's about to pick up a baseball bat and beat the fuck out of somebody with it, I love the fucking YAMATO showing up, I love the character descriptions ("Sand people of the Sand Planet", "His armor is already black enough, but its not nearly as black as his heart"), I love that Boba Fett is the only trooper in the Imperial army, I love the fight scenes described by the Mortal Kombat team, I love that Luke "unholsters his laser gun" by leaving his gun holstered and materializing a rifle out of nowhere...

And then there's that last panel on Part 2, which I will not spoil for you but is made of solid gold bricks.

I want them to just throw out the scripts for Episode 7 and film this instead. Maybe just animate it. This would be a valid use of rotoscoping, even! The first in history!

Oh wow I can't wait to see more of this.

Oh, that's just fantastic! Quite a find to begin with, let alone someone having the dedication to actually attempt to translate the entire thing. =:D If I only knew my way around InDesign or suchlike, it'd be pretty tempting to try laying that out in tidy pages, suitable for screen display, maybe tidying up the artwork slightly - though, arguably, the pale yellow of the paper's somehow part of the nostalgia. ^_^
