I kind of worry that in a couple years, posts like these will just be a slew of busted image links and errors, and incomprehensible one-liners from me.
Left you all on a bit of a cliffhanger, I'm afraid. Sorry about that! Let's not delay in getting right to it.

Well, somehow Gabe's bike got home to St. George's Books. We promptly jump inside, to Grace leaning over Gabriel and giving him a good hard shaking. Gabe rises up, groaning about "more bad dreams".

Grace proceeds to explain the PLOT to Gabe for a while. Malia was possessed by Tetelo, and he was nearly killed out in the swamp last night.
Gabriel: "She was a leopard! Like my ..."
Grace: "Yes, Gabriel. Your dreams were a warning."
Grace was suspicious of the Gedde family, so she did some research on her own and discovered they arrived around the same time that murder in the newspaper took place. So she trailed Gabe out to the swamp and dragged him out of danger while the conclave was distracted. Mostly, she sounds really let down by Gabe's complete lack of a battle plan last night.
Grace: "Gabriel, this is your DESTINY you're facing. You can't just blunder your way through this! You're gonna end up dead! Call your great uncle in Germany, get some professional advice."
Gabriel: "Uncle Wolfgang?"
Grace: "YES. He knows more about this than we do."
So she hucks him a shirt and leaves him to dress. ... I wonder how Grace got Gabe's motorcycle back too. Did she drag him (and his heavy-ass coat) through the swamp, drape him over the back of the cycle, and ride home? Have I mentioned Grace is awesome?
Still, there is a MORNING ROUTINE we must adhere to. So! Gabe stumbles out, gets coffee, and checks the newspaper. There's a story about some folks seeing lights in the Bayou, but it's presented as a joke, or as "ghosts". Then Gabe checks the Doom And Gloom Forecast.

Gabriel: "God help me, I'm startin' to listen to this guy."
So it's time to get in the back room and phone up Wolfgang Ritter. (VA Watch: Efrem Zimbalist Jr is a really cool name. Some of you will know him as Alfred from the animated Batman shows, some of you will know him as Doc Ock from the 90s Spider-Man show, some of you will know him from Babylon 5.)
Gabe gets on the phone, calls up Wolfgang -- Who had an absolutely SHATTERING nightmare last night. Gabe fills him on what's happened and Wolfgang sounds horrified at how bad the situation's gotten. It's time to talk shop. First off -- What the hell is a Shattenjager anyway? Well, it's two words in english: "Shadow" and "Hunter". The family business is hunting nasties. Vampires, werewolves, ghosts, demons. The things people don't admit exist.

Wonder if Gabe can get himself a whip or something. Wolfgang insists that Gabriel has to be trained to be a shattenjager -- which Wolfgang regrets he cannot do over a phone line across the Atlantic. If only Heinz had not tried to hide things from his family!
Well, we're not getting into THAT over the phone either. Gabriel also talks for a while about Tetelo/Malia. Wolfgang posits that due to the power of the Talisman, Tetelo has become a far more powerful Loa than her father ever was. It is likely buried with her mortal remains, where she continues to draw power from it.
Wolfgang also notes that there is absolutely no way to fight her while she has it: Getting it back is the only way to even have a facsimile of an equal fight. He also takes great pains to point out that Tetelo, the one Gunter fell in love with, was not an evil woman. Tetelo the Loa, however, has been twisted over years of worship into an evil spiritual force.

So, how do we get the talisman back? Wolfgang doesn't know. Either it's there in New Orleans, with the remains of the tribe itself... or it's in their ancestral homeland. Since there was no census in Africa at the time and there were very few slavekeeping records, the shattenjagers have never known anything about where the tribe came from. So obviously, that can be ruled--
Gabriel: "...Y'know, I spoke with a Professor Hartridge..."

The sound of Wolfgang's jaw dropping can be heard across the Atlantic.
He gives Gabriel some last-minute advice: Stay low, investigate around to see if the Talisman might be there but do NOT attempt to breech their security or private areas, and come at ONCE to Germany if he feels threatened. Then he sprints off to the Shattenjager library to follow up on this lead.
With a glance at that phone book page, Gabe tries a travel agency. How much would it cost to get him to Germany? It would cost $1400 to get him to Germany. They don't take $20 gift certificates to crappy bookstores when booking tickets, either. Ouch. So... there will be no teaming up with Uncle Wolfgang for daring two-fisted adventures, it seems.
All right... what about our part? We know where the Gedde tomb is. Let's go see if we can find anything in there. Gabriel heads out to the cemetary. Oddly, as he pushes open the door to the Gedde tomb, he hears the sound of breaking glass.

The interface is really irritating in here, as we have to wave the flashlight around and we can only "see" what's in the tiny circle of light. Eventually, we come upon... no, it can't really be this easy, can it?

A drawer with the veve on it? Okay, let's see what's inside.

...Oh hell. Gabe drops his flashlight in shock, and before he can react something hits him in the back of the head, laying him out cold and flat.

When we check the drawer again, there's only a wallet. Aside from that, there's no sign of the body.

So there you go. The ultimate dick move of Gabriel Knight: Getting his best friend killed investigating the Voodoo Murders. Let's hear it for Franklin Mosely, who maybe was not the best cop, but was the only person willing to believe in Gabriel's weird rantings, who -- Gabe, what are you doing?

Gabriel, that's Mosely's credit card. Put it back. The man's dead, show some respect. Let's just get back to the shop.

Oh, that sounds... not good for Wolfgang. "Do his duty"? It's a shame we can't be there with him, maybe brainstorm on how this whole thing has to work out. On the other hand, it's just too expensive to--

Holy shit, Knight.
Gabriel: "Guess what. I'm goin' to Germany."
Grace: "That's great, but how did you afford..."
Gabriel: "A man's gotta do... what a man's gotta do."

Gabriel: "I'll miss you too, Grace."

Gabriel Knight arrives in Germany, to his family's ancestral home. What will he find?
Well, we'll find out later, since I have to end this update here. Stay tuned!

Aw fuck, now I now what you were referring to when you were referring to Mosely with terms like "feel sorry for him" and "did not deserve what he got." And I sort of had him pegged as, like, a "main" character who would be above things like being killed off because he had to be in the next game, like Grace. (Oh my God if anything happens to Grace I will not be okay.)
And... maybe he's still okay since the body disappeared? Maybe? *Faint hope* *REALLY faint hope but shh shut up*
Mosely ;_;
