I'm just gonna cut this entirely, in case y'all don't care, but hey... wanna pick my character?

(A note: I will be playing with Version 8.8 Plus of the Unofficial Vampire: Bloodlines patch. This means things may get weird or out of synch with people's memories of the game.)

Bloodlines is an RPG, and like a lot of western RPGs it allows you to create your own personalized character. There's a lot of approaches to making a character, some people like to nitpick and customize every little detail, some people like premade characters, some always play themselves...

Me? I've tried playing as a Malkavian the last four times I've played this game. I'm sick of it. No Malkavians. I'm ready to have an all-new experience. That's where you folk come in. I've selected three potential approaches to the game and will do my darndest to get myself into the mindset of one of these characters as I play. Which one will it be? Why don't y'all select something.

CONTESTANT #1: Ashelia B'nargin Dalmasca
A noble woman who craves power. Playing as Ashe, I'll probably take up magic and melee fighting, and choose dialogue options that would result in greater gains in social standing or direct power. Ashe can be rather single-minded however, and doesn't really look at the big picture unless forced. She's not the crass type, so a degree of nobility will be upheld, but she understands that sometimes you just Do What You Must.

CONTESTANT #2: Nancy Drew
An inquisitive, intelligent detective. Nancy will lean hard towards the talky, investigative side of things. Not to say she's inept in a fight, but sneaking around is more her style. She's a -nice girl-, so options picked will be Upright and Moral whenever possible. She will also pick up anything not nailed down.

CONTESTANT #3: Adam "JC" "The Incredible Robocop" Jensen, Ph.D
Adam will beat you to death with a refrigerator. He may not have asked for this, but he's certainly not going to OBJECT to it. Adam is direct, confrontational, and casually violent. He enjoys guns, explosions, and constructing elaborate clockwork. Adam's moral code is "whatever".

CONTESTANT #4: ?????
Do you think I should play someone else? Tell me who and tell me why.

Votes in by whenever on Thursday I decide to start playing, please!

Since "Nancy Drew" seems to be the way you play a lot of things, not least the actual Nancy Drew games, and "because it was funny and/or caused explosions, ideally both" is what I see you do a lot when not in the mood to be serious, maybe Ashe would be a good compromise - somewhere in the middle, neither hell-bent on destruction nor carefully avoiding it. This is the sort of game where a bit of seriousness might actually be rewarded. Possibly.

I have never played VtM:Bloodlines, but I have extensively played the tabletop game it's based on.

Honestly? I kinda want you to play Nancy Drew the Vampire.

I think Nancy Drew the Vampire would be the funniest.

Awww, I guess there were a lot of off-LJ votes for Ashe. I hope you enjoy it anyway! :)

I'm going to go with Ashe also. It seems like the most... roleplayish. Nancy Drew is my default mode when exploring new game worlds, and Adam Jensen is... well, I've been like that too.

But Ashe style? Could be interesting.

Nancy Drew sounds like the most amusing concept, although in practice the game probably does have a high moral standards path to take which would make it less interesting.
