JSRF COMPLETE!
Nov. 23rd, 2013 05:12 amOkay...
so I tried for a good long time to come up with something to say about Jet Set Radio Future that wasn't just "I ignored this game because it wasn't the Dreamcast original, I'm stupid, this game is amazing, I was so stupid, the soundtrack is amazing, aaaaaaa" but I can't.
Like, this game doesn't make the original obsolete. They share a similar language, in that you skate and tag and stuff, but Jet Set Radio (the original) was all about points and time-attacking and scoring points as fast as possible. That's why tagging was a QTE, so you could master that and get more points.
JSRF doesn't give no fucks about points. Okay a little fuck. A fucklette. The points are important for optional street challenges. But MOSTLY JSRF is about getting places, about motion and movement, about speed and jumping and wallriding as HARD AS YOU CAN to get where you're going. It's about flow instead of the technicals.
They are both great games. If you asked me which one was better, I would make a noise like "nyeehhhh" and probably hit you for asking. So don't do that.
Anyway I thought I'd have more to say but mostly I just had a really great time. What's next on the list?

...Solatorobo: Red the Hunter. Another game I did not really give much of a chance to. Let's see if I was wrong here too.
See you next time.
