As it happens, I am NOT waking up right now. I instead, er... napped a bit last night and am now preparing to go to bed once this Animal Crossing session is finished. Still, I'm trying to play every day and I don't wanna miss anything, so let's load that up for a little while and see what can be accomplished.

Klaus has given me the gift of "kitchen tile", which is the most hideous linoleum monstrosity I've ever seen. I have got to get Klaus to leave town.

At a little after eight thirty AM, most of the Adoravil townies are fast asleep.

This seems like a good move all around, so I don't aim to disturb too many. Just shuffle around, water the flowers, dig up some of the grass for fossils, do a little fishing...

While I'm out and around, I see someone I had actually completely forgotten about. Saharah! Last time I saw her, it was like the very first day I had the game and she sneered at my lack of a proper home. Well, who's sneering now, Saharah? NEITHER OF US. I am going to pay you 3,000 bells and you're going to give me -- Absolutely nothing? Instead she follows me home at a brisk trot. She looks at my house, muses about the "harmony" of it, then kicks my ass to the curb.

My house shakes wildly for a while, then Saharah bursts out the front door and declares that the PAST IS OVER and TOMORROW IS HERE. She explains that harmony is peace, and peace is unity, and that unity is harmony again, and that she told Nook this and he threw her out of his shop. I have absolutely no idea what just happened.

Eventually, I dare to peek back inside my house again.

Oh. ... OH. Well... That's a LOT better, actually. Yeah, I dig this. My old wallpaper and carpet go into storage, I'm keeping this look for a while.

Since it's early enough that no stores are likely to be open, I take a stroll down to the docks.

Sure, this looks legit. This is Captain Kapp'n, who ferries folks around in his boat. He then calls me a "wee shrimp sandwich", so I have some insecurity issues now, thanks Kapp'n. Oh well. Off to the tropical island to see what's so great about it. This costs 1000 bells, and Kapp'n puts all my "personal effects" into storage, by which I mean his pockets.

Hey, uh... Kapp'n, are we in international waters? Just asking. Little, uh, humor. About dumping me overboard. Then he starts to sing.

When we pull into the Island dock I feel a deep sense of profound relief that I have not been shanked and hurled into the ocean. I also find myself wondering if it'll be 1000 more bells to come back. Meanwhile, there is not a damned thing in my pockets, so I'm a little uncomfortable. What if there are bugs? There could be bugs and I couldn't catch them.

This resort tourist trap is run by more of Kapp'n's freakish family. They laugh at my bells and demand "medals", which is the local currency. I don't have any or know how to get any. There's "Grams", the old lady who laughs at me for staring at "her exotic beauty" and the rare island items. There's "Leilani", who runs some kind of tour system and hands out information pamphlets about their little third-world paradise. And there's little "Leila", who insists that we are now playing Supermarket and I should bring her something to buy. Maybe she'll pay me in medals.

Outside is... Lloid the Gyroid, who hands me a "Rental" shovel, net, fishing pole, and wetsuit. Huh. Nice of him. I do a little fishing and bug-catching while I can.

I sell Leila a sea bass, and she gives me ten bells for it. ... Hmmmm. Selling at a massive loss to an adorable small child. My gamer senses are tingling. Telling me that this is going to pay off huge somewhere later down the line. I'd better keep at that.

But wait a second here. Why am I standing around on shore when I COULD be IMMERSING MYSELF in a new activity?

Aaah, you see what I did there? I even find a new thing, down on the ocean floor!

So... yeah, leaving aside the stuff I donated to the museum, the island trip cost 1000 bells and raked in a profit of -- drum roll, plz ...

And that's without vigorously decimating the landscape as roughly as I could have. Travel is good for profit. *tap fingers* I huck about ten thousand bells Lloid's way, as a thank-you for that rental gear back on the island. Now, off to the garden supply store! Wow, I cannot make that sound exciting after TROPICAL ISLAND RESORT, but I try because that's how much I care.

Leif here runs the garden supply shop. He's... very, very laid back. I suspect he's really into growing plants at home, if you know what I mean. There's not a lot to say, but I'll have to grab some flowers and spread them around town later. For whatever reason, there tends to be a lot of birds outside Leif's shop.

This doesn't work.

Anyway, the Able Sisters and a few of the other stores are still closed, and frankly I am le tired, so I elect to hit the bed for now. Look for a .5 update later today. Please look forward to it.
