So, here's the path I had to follow to get Wings of Prey working.

Step 1: Download and install via Steam.
Step 2: Attempt to run the game.

Note -- This is as far as I have to go with 98% of the games I own. Having to do this and only this is part of why I buy games on Steam, y'see.

Step 3: Wings of Prey starts for a split second, then instantly closes itself. Confused, I try Step 2 and even Step 1 a few more times.
Step 4: Fend off messages from friends about why I keep starting and closing the game so fast.
Step 5: Hit the Steam forums. Find a post about this problem and how to fix it. Boggle for a bit.
Step 6: Dig into the program directory. Run "Access.exe". The game starts. But you CAN'T PLAY IT YET. You have to close it now.
Step 7: Close the game, find "launcher.exe", which now works because you've run the game once. (???) Open that and make a "Yuplay" account.

-- A while ago, Ubisoft introduced "uPlay", which was widely agreed to be a bad move. It's a kind of unified always-on DRM for their games. They've improved it a lot recently. "YuPlay", as far as I can tell, is the hideous stupid russian knockoff uPlay. It isn't translated properly, the currency is something called "YUM", when you start it it automatically starts a knockoff IRC client and drops you in a chat room, and for some reason this is the passthrough for a few Russian-made games on Steam. This thing -sucks-.

Step 8: Log in with your new Yuplay account. Give Yuplay your CD codes, which you can get from Steam because YOU'RE RUNNING THIS FROM STEAM. WHY DOES IT NEED CODES WHEN THE CODES ARE -RIGHT THERE- AND IT'S A STEAMWORKS GAME AND AUWUFJFK
Step 9: Foam for a while.
Step 10: You can now play the game if you still want to. But first, you have to set up your controller and do all these tutorial missions because FLIGHT SIM, BITCHES.

Conclusion: So far I want to poop on this game. Oh well. Anyway now I can actually PLAY it.

Obviously, you are mis-translating it. It's not YuPlay, it's Y U PLAY?!?!

Obviously, the Ruskies be trollin'.

So much for the follow up to Nancy Drew being simple and uncomplicated and not requiring extensive problem solving.

Ye gods and little fishes! Did nobody in that company ever sit down and think "isn't this a bit complicated?" With that level of circuitousness, it's tempting to think it's the outcome of a particularly deliberate design process..

Some companies care more about the pirates than the customer.

It's like a convenience store that cuts off your hands pre-emptively to prevent shoplifting.
