A sudden swift duology of posts.
Jun. 2nd, 2011 07:53 pmHello! It has been a while.
For starters, today the woof and I went out and, while discussing and debating the ubiquity of technology, I demanded that he read Neil Stephenson's "The Diamond Age" like right then. At the wheel. While driving. As we had no copy to hand, we pulled over at a nearby bookstore.
Where we... did not find a copy of The Diamond Age, so I just ordered one off Amazon.
We did find a great many other books for Reasonable Prices, which means we just chafed our wallet. Sigh. Still as I usually do, I document them here.
Three Goofy-Ass Children's Books by Ursula Vernon - "Dragonbreath", "Dragonbreath: Curse of the Were-Wiener", and "Dragonbreath: Lair of the Bat-Monster". We already have "Dragonbreath: Attack of the Ninja Frogs".
By contrast, the woof picked up Dan Abnett's "Thunder and Steel", a big collection of Warhammer fantasy with lots of the blood and the violence and presumably orcs punching out elven internal organs and dwarfs with massive axes and whatnot. A GOOD TIME FOR ALL.
Also bought was "The Stainless Steel Rat Returns" by Harry Harrison, who has been pumping these goddamn things out for years on end and we're still buyin' them, and "The Power of Illusion", a collection of shorts and novels by Christopher Anvil, who I have never heard of but whom seems to write in alignment with my personal interests.
So there's that.
