Legend of Galactic Heroes 45

Right, more Galactic Heroes.

"In every age, in every place, the deeds of men remain the same." That's the tagline for this show, and... y'know, sometimes it really does feel like it's true. *sigh* That's the point, o'course.

Reinhard's superstat? EGO. He's gazing at the stars all "YOU EXIST FOR MY CONQUERING ONLY!"

Hee. All the big commanders are talking about how ENERGETIC their underlings are.

It's a new year, and they've conquered a new land. I guess the Imperials are thrilled for a reason, y'know?

"There are always people who rush to fight, because they think it's cowardly not to fight the moment they see an enemy." Oh, speaking of historical derp...

Reinhard doesn't want them to take the 'easy way'. He just wants them to be INTERESTING.

Ah yes. The young guys are enthused about the big battles to come so they can make a spectacle of themselves. Impress the uppers and rise in rank.

"I'll win, of course. I'll rule the universe. But... I don't know if I care about anything that ISN'T fighting." -- Reinhard, in a nutshell.

Meanwhile the Alliance has rolled out a draconican media lockdown. Whee-hoo.

Supreme Counciler Truniht? Ugh. That's a TERRIBLE concept.

Interesting. Truniht issued a statement from a meeting he -didn't attend-. Curious.

Sigh. Democratic voting on whether they fight to actually win, or fight to get a good situation for a peace treaty.

Manuevering on "Do they become a dictatorship OF WAR or die as a democracy". This really does itch a bit close to home.

And now we organize into WAR PARTIES.

...Dude, judging by the bottle you're drunk off your ass from drinking ketchup. Stop.

OH HEY remember the Kaiser kidnapping and such? THE SHOW DOES.

Meanwhile the chief of staff of the Alliance has had a heart attack. *facepalm*

So, quick promotion for a guy named Trung Yu Chan, who is eating a stale cheese sandwich.

He is BREAD OBSESSED.

But he does have a decent suggestion. Why keep Yang at Iserlohn when the enemy is attacking via Phezzan?

Yang gets his instructions to "Do what he feels is best".

Someone ELSE has a heart attack and leaves a gap in the Alliance government. Geez.

So they just promote the dude who gives them the news to the position that needs to be filled. Good god.

Woof: "Well, the "True Imperial Protect The Kaiser" ship is sinking and all the rats are leaving. They were MOSTLY rats to start with, so it's crowded in those lifeboats."

Nadia: Secret of Blue Water 22

The narrator insists that the Nautilus is not defeated yet. In spite of being dumped casually in the ocean, with bits broken off.

And the Garfish fleet dumping depth charges on them.

And flooding.

They're seperating the combat block. What does that MEAN?

Is this like that thing the Enterprise does, that only occasionally happens because effects were really expensive?

So... yeah, they chopped off the back end and blew it up at the bad guys. We were just seeing the Full Armor Package.

And then they... float off, casually, on a current. *scratch head* Huh.

Emperor Neo of the Neo-Atlantians has a very... egyptian look to him.

"So many have been sacrificed over the last 12,000 years for the Blue Water." THAT'S BECAUSE YOU KEEP KILLING PEOPLE, FUCKFACE. STOP IT.

Also, animators, why do you feel the need to draw King's balls in every scene?

Nemo demands the kids get off the ship, because... reasons.

Ow. Nadia just -shunned- Nemo hard. Cold.

Nadia doesn't really get the concept of "You should leave because we're all gonna die." So the kids are put in the thing that seperates off the part of the sub that seperates. Your sub seperates into too many pieces.

And then Electra pulls a pistol and ... uh, shoots Nemo. What the fuck?

She blames him for everything Gargoyle's done, like using the Tower of Babel to blow up her village.

That makes sound logical sense. IN RETARDOVILLE. What the hell is she on about? Nemo's been fighting to -stop- Gargoyle and Neo Atlantis. Unless "what he did" was deliberately break the Blue Water and give some to Nadia, causing the malfunction that blew her village up, in which case THAT IS STILL STUPID.

Oh. Nemo blew up the Tower of Babel personally, which killed the village. Unlike if he had been an actual Gargoyle member, in which case he simply would have shot them all. BRILLIANT.

And now she's pissed because he WON'T fight to the death of everyone for his ideals.

Ooooh. And she lets drop that Nadia's his daughter. Nadia looks ... well, she was already pretty freaked out.

Nemo is not buying any of this shit. "Just shoot."

And he didn't "fight to the last" to protect -Electra-. This whole thing is getting straight into Emotional Trainwreckville.

Particularly because all the dramatic shooting is punching swiss-cheese holes in the sub.

And so they just eject Nadia/Jean/King/Marie anyway and everyone else sits in the sub trying to figure out WTF happens to let them survive this one.

Nice going, guys! That went downhill fast!
