Who are you?
Oct. 26th, 2009 02:06 amThe boyfriend was apparently playing a horror game on my Steam account earlier when someone messaged him. Since the Steam Message Beep is like six billion decibels loud, this scared the crap out of him. He tells me it was someone "weasel-esqe" or "ottery".
I have messaged the weasel and otter I know! They were not it. Also it was likely not the large wolf, the rather more compact wolf, the fox, the dragon, the other dragon, the giant smiley face, the skunk, the deer, or the swirly thing.
I am slightly at a loss. Did YOU try to message me, get the boyfriend, and scare the living crap out of him?
... Good job!

Date: 2009-10-26 10:48 am (UTC)It was me. ^.^
I thought it was absolutely out-of-character that you were playing a F.E.A.R. game and I had to comment on it, but it turned out to be your BF. XD
I told him he could turn off the IMs and he did and that was that.
But yay for scaring people! <3
I don't know why but it always makes me feel good when I freak someone out. ^.^
My Steam icon is the same as here on LJ, I guess it might be taken as weasely or ottery, without the bushy brush of a fluffy squirrel tail.

Date: 2009-10-26 11:54 am (UTC)But it is very out of character. A lot of people are surprised when they find out how much I enjoy violence in video games. Go figure!
Speaking of violent head-explosions, looking forward to Borderlands later today?

Date: 2009-10-26 01:52 pm (UTC)I'm sure not, I couldn't even finish Silent Hill 1.
I am looking forward to Borderlands but I'm also very disappointed. When they said it would be released on October 26, I thought they meant at midnight, or maybe 3am so that it's midnight on the west coast, or worst case scenario, nine am, so that it's six-am on the west coast, but noooooooooo they have to release it at fricking 3pm, so that it's noon on the west coast. I couldn't sleep because I was so excited, and when I got up early thinking I could play, well too bad for me! XD
Oh well. My other friends couldn't wait, they rented the console version to try it out ahead of time, or picked up the pirate version of the PC game that even has working multiplayer. Can you believe that? Once again the pirates win, beating a game before it's even released when us shmucks who pay have to wait and deal with bullcrap DRM that isn't going to change the fact that the game is already pirated.

Date: 2009-10-26 01:57 pm (UTC)So I could play for the ten hours before it was unlocked.
To be fair, I did only play for about an hour to be -sure- it worked and ... y'know, was good. It was. I'm content with waiting the rest of the time for the "real" thing.
...
I like horror games, too.

Date: 2009-10-26 02:12 pm (UTC)I mostly only play old games pirated, I'm uncomfortable with all this modern pirating, yet my friends are all making fun of me now. "You actually PAY for games!?" they say, incredulous, then they just start laughing and teasing me and prodding me, telling me to get an R4 card and such. ;.;

Date: 2009-10-26 02:17 pm (UTC)A: I already bought it and it is shipping,
B: It is old.
C: I feel really guilty about it,
or D: It is out-of-region. (Japanese, Chinese, etc).
I feel like a giant dick for downloading so many games and full anime series and comics and whatnot. I am, however, poor, unscrupulous, and a thief. Eventually I will probably go to jail for 500 years.

Date: 2009-10-26 02:34 pm (UTC)Anyways software piracy isn't really stealing, it's copyright infringement. Stealing means you take something from someone else and they don't have it anymore. Copyright infringement means you made a copy of something someone else has, and they still have it, but they didn't give you permission to make a copy, so you should be punished more severely than a drug dealer or a house burglar.

Date: 2009-10-26 07:03 pm (UTC)I get 5 GB per month. There's no per-gig fee if I go over, but if I go over two months out of three I'll get disconnected. And then it'd be back to dialup.
... and here I am, 8.5 miles from the Comcast regional office and I can't get cable.

Date: 2009-10-26 08:54 pm (UTC)I'm lucky I got my internet when I did. My ISP Bell Canada changed their plans the day I was going to upgrade; for the same rate I've got, they're now offering only 2 GB instead of the original 20GB, and the next tier up is only 25GB when it used to be 65GB.
I hope your ISP wises up soon, 5GB a month just isn't enough for the new internet.

Date: 2009-10-28 04:51 pm (UTC)I dunno what I am. Swirly thing maybe, I dunno. It's intriguing!
Also I really wish I'd gotten Borderlands. It's weird--I came up from playing Brutal Legend and not really liking it to find your message offering a slot for Borderlands. Damn you, fate.
Or damn you Jack Black. I dunno. Again!
