What, no reactions to that Korean animationy bit? Anything, comments, reactions? I'd hate for it to come all the way to the Internet just to get a great big "eh." and drift off again. I see it got nine downloads! Anyone watched it?

Meanwhile, tomorrow is the Big Day, Windows 7-wise. So, I'm in the process of backing up various bits and bobs to the external drive. Later tonight... around 3, 4 AM I guess, I'll reformat everything (or try to. How do you make the system just completely format a drive again? It keeps complaining that that's my BOOT DRIVE, I can't REALLY mean to format it totally, and I keep insisting that REALLY I want it all GONE...) and install old-style Vista. Then it's just a wait until the UPS dude arrives with the software to upgrade.

I am actually weirdly excited about changing my OS properly. Why the CRAP am I excited about updating my OS?

Ah well. Anyway, if I vanish for eight days and then the state explodes? Totally my bad.

I watched it! I didn't comment on the original post, 'cause I came across it late and ...felt it was past its expiration date for comments? (I am a special girl.)

Anyway: I really liked Yobi! I thought it was really followable (at least for someone who is routinely neck-deep in the mythic), and really sweet and charming. It was weird and silly, too, but in such a good-natured, warm way.

My favorite parts eeeever were the scenes in Mysterious Birdcage Land. Seriously, forever! I spent the whole time going: "What the hell, Korea? You are rad."

Glory, the inflatabus. That was seriously bizarre, but at the same time I was like, "Yeah, that's just about right for a frantic foxy thing."

The pacing really was jittery as heck, though. I guess by 'followable' I'm probably trying to say I felt the theme was definitely accessible and visible, even while the story pirouetted wildly around it. (And then fell into a pit of lava.)

For a while, I thought Mr. Shadow was going to be revealed to be the actual 9-tailed kumiho that one dude was after! Maybe that was the implication but he'sdeadnowmovingalong.

Also, on reflection, I still don't know why those fuzzy aliens were even in the movie, aside from their soliloquies on puberty and comic(?) relief.

And the random 30-second humming dance interlude about how the ground on their planet sings? And you're right! They never wrapped up what the heck even happened to them.

Something I liked was the big bear that lost its cub. Yobi gave it the stuffed bear she swiped from the mute girl, and then later the mute girl found the big bear and came back talking again! (The stuffed bear ...sublimated? I don't know!) It didn't make any sense, but it had a neat piece of circular symmetry to it. (THE TEDDY BEAR WAS A SYMBOL OF ADOLESCENT TRANSFERENCE. ???!!?!)

Holy shit. This movie is like a rabbit hole of weirdness, the longer you think about it...

Oh sorry hon, I haven't watched it yet. I downloaded it! But haven't watched it yet. I've got a lot to watch right now, and I've been spending all my time playing WoW or working. ^.^;;

My situation is as [livejournal.com profile] relee's: I grabbed it, but haven't had a chance to watch it yet. So much media, so little time.

*laugh* Hey, there's limited fox-related stuff out there that has the fox as the central character or even on the good-guy's side, after all...

I think my favorite recent one has been Wagaya no Oinari-sama. Pity I see no evidence it'll ever get a second season.

Downloaded, but haven't watched it yet.

Because I have to sweep up a big pile of attention and blow it all at once in order to concentrate that long. >_
