Today, as part of our ongoing effort not to actually take root in the carpeting and become odd new life forms, we went out for dinner and book shopping. This went well. I found shoujo manga ...
Sqrl: "It's a retelling of Alice in Wonderland, where everyone except for Alice is a psychotic bishonen!"
Woof: *scoot away from*
Sqrl: "And this one is about a girl who wants to go to elementary school, but instead ends up at an academy "For the Scientifically Gifted and Ethically Unfettered"."
Woof: "...okay, we'll take 'em."
...The woof found more Warhammer 40K...
Woof: "Which of these is book one, do you think?"
Sqrl: "Probably the one called 'The Founding'."
Woof: *takes book, examines it, looks thoughtful*
Sqrl: "You could always just..."
Woof: *hefts enormous armload of books, leaves*
Sqrl: "...buy them all. I was kidding."
Talked about anime...
Sqrl: "Should I get Dragon Drive the manga, or watch the anime?"
Woof: "What do you know about it?"
Sqrl: "I've seen a ten second long, endlessly looping clip of the main character's dragon shaking his ass provocatively at the camera."
Woof: "So you're not in this for the author's deep inner truth."
Sqrl: "I am in it for the dragons, the fanserviciest of all mythical beasts."
We went to IHOP and ate pancakes with cheesecake in it and nutella crepes...
Sqrl: "It's like a trip to a planet made of chocolate covered bananas!"
....and we discussed Important Things.
Sqrl: "See, that's why I've been staying AWAY from World of Warcraft. Because the first thing I'd do is make a Wolfen character. The second thing..."
Woof: "You'd find a hack to remove the pants?"
Sqrl: "...this isn't Kingdom of Loathing. The pants come right off. You don't need Leg Awareness to do that. Anyway, the second thing would just be to jump up and down and watch the bouncing, swaying tail."
Woof: "I've seen this before. When you're playing Sly Cooper or that one Starfox game. First you start watching the tail..."
Sqrl: "And an hour later I'm in the middle of the ocean going "WHAT HAPPENED?! I FELT STRANGELY HYPNOTIZED!"
...
Woof, later: "What ALL MMOs need is a /caramelldansen emote."
...
Woof, still later: "WHY DO YOU INSIST ON PLAYING THE GAYEST DWARF?!"
