Idle curiosity.

I have reasons for asking this. I'm just sort of dully interested. It came to me when Woof and I were watching a program involving trying to find scientific ways to blow up a planet, and they mentioned atomics. I remembered the Manhattan Project, where they were genuinely afraid they'd burn off the Earth's atmosphere with it.
I wonder if we could do that to, say, Venus. Just to pick a planet with a weird atmosphere. Fwoosh. Do you folk think that could be done? Would it be awesome?
THIS IS JUST IDLE CURIOSITY.
