xyzzysqrl: A moogle sqrlhead! (Nostalgia and Rodents)

I've been waking up feeling half-dead a lot of the time, lately. I hope it's understandable why this bothers me. At least my mood's taken a heavy upswing, in that I have actual energy and enthusiasm. I'm pretty sure the achy groggyness is from either the new summer warmth and humidity, or possibly my pillow. My pillow has, after roughly two years on it, gone totally flat and pancake-like. It also has a tendency to slide down between the mattress and the bed, taking my head with it. I wake up with my head at an awkward angle. ... One of these days I'm going to drool up my own nose and drown, I know it. (Go, sqrl, go. Gross out your readership.)

I'm ensaddened by the news of a new, realistic Zelda game. Cartoony good. Realism bad. Cartoony Good. Realism Bad. When will people learn that true joy lies not in grim gritty photorealism but in brightly drawn, heavily stylized animation? Foolish people.

There's a number of books I want to reread, that I read in my childhood. The Wrinkle In Time series (particuarly A Swiftly Tilting Planet) is one clump. Also The Phantom Tollbooth. The Three Musketeers. (yes, I read it as a child, but I really doubt I "got" it very well, since I don't remember much about it besides a fondness for the writing style.) Diane Duane's Young Wizard series. Books that don't treat the reader like an idiot just because they're young. Anyone have any more reccomendations along those lines? I'm eyeing Narnia, too, but I doubt that'll hold up to my sensibilties today. ("NO. He turns into a DRAGON. Dragon > Human. EDMUND WINS.")

Basically I'm having a very regressive week, all told.

Enkidu is either Marathon/Halo fanfiction or some kind of teaser for the next game. The HTML source says fanfiction. Still, it's pretty fun to read, in my opinion. Moreso for including an AI, who is... interesting in his behavior and only becoming more so.

This next is just some notes to myself I've made while reading Enkidu. No need to take them in any way seriously. I'll likely be editing these as it goes on.

Timeframe is after the Fall of Reach by two weeks. Rules out Library computer (floating ball thing from Halo)
Pubkey = CEDAR. This is explained by #5.

Enkidu numbering system. Prologue starts at ii (2), where's #1? Lettering on HTML goes a, b, g, d, e... Greek letters.

#21 - HTML meta tag includes "thesis" and "antithesis". Arguement with self. Fragmenting personality, or two AIs in one shell?
#22 even more interesting, THREE points of view. Enkidu, someone else, and "the player" character?

Who is the "player"/"reader" anyway? Has Deep Dark Sekrit. "Sailor". (Hello, Sailor! He's the guy from Zork. AFGNCAAP.)

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

No, no no! You are heathen! Infidel pagan leper UNCLEAN!

The new Zelda game is the savior of all that is digital! From it alone shall I receive the holy communion that is the true Messiah, born forth from it's forefather the Ocarina of Time!
