Face in the crowd
Jul. 20th, 2009 05:33 amSo I made some kimchi flavored ramen, which I had never had before. It was tasty, and since I was right in front of the PC I decided to google the makers and the type of ramen, out of idle curiosity.
I found a review of it! Awesome! I can find out what The Internet thinks of my food choice.
...Amusingly, however, as I scrolled down the comments, I kept seeing people reply with "I'm eating some of this RIGHT NOW and it's AWESOME". "I made a bowl of this a few minutes ago, it's very spicy and not sour at all" etc etc and so on.
It was amusing to me. Who makes themselves some food and then googles that food WHILE eating it to see what... people... have to say...
*look down at ramen bowl*
Oh.
... I wonder what psychological reflex triggers this, actually. "I am doing something. I want to read about people who are doing that same thing." This reaction in me is what led to things like the club sandwich line the other night, and so on. I apparently am all about Food + Info in REAL TIME.

?
My Dad does the same thing with movies. While he's watching the movie he's all over the IMDB looking up all the actors to see if they're dead yet, and what else they've been up to.
