Okay, hiatus over. I feel better, I think.

This is about the time of year when I post my link to my Amazon wish list for Christmas, but given that my last post was basically "SCREW EVERYBODY I'M LEAVING", it would be prudent to hold off on that.

(For an idea of how I feel about my mood during my last post after this hiatus business, picture Strong Mad bellowing "ANGRY FACE! AAAAANGRY FAAAACE!" over and over.)

Actually, I was giving thought to just... letting the LJ rot, wandering off from it entirely. Lately I've felt like I'm not posting anything of use... as was pointed out in a reply to the more vitriolic post I had up here previously, all I talk about is anime and video games. Thing is, that's 99% of what I do, what I think about.

I just don't want to bore people with things that concern only me. If I start doing that, there's no point to me keeping up this journal. I do it to entertain people, after all.

Let me say, with earnestness, that though I neither watch anime nor play video games (for the most part), you entertain me more than just about anyone else on my reading list.

Waaaaaait. Someone complained to you because most of your posts are about the two topics that most encomass your interests and passtimes? Maan, that's about like going to ESPN and saying "I wish they didn't write about sports so much".

To provide a little context... Xyzzy had just griped about what OTHER people were posting in their journals -- about the election, IIRC. So I think the person was more countering a hurtful gripe with another hurtful gripe. On the other hand, I don't give a damn about anime and console games either, and I love Xyzzy's sense of humor and writing style; this is one of the few mostly-gaming journals I LIKE to read.

I wouldn't take the comment about content too much to heart, since it was given in the heat of a conflict and I think mostly intended to turn Xyzzy's gripe around on him. That feud's been settled, and I personally want the sqrl to keep writing what he's been writing, except more and more often. :)

Yeah. The follow up thought that triggered my worry was basically "It irritates the hell out of me when people post political stuff endlessly. ... I have been accused of posting about video games and anime endlessly. Therefore, what I post must be irritating as hell. Oh god, I'm a monster. They'll have to bury me in a mine shaft for the good of all humanity."

I'm sure this is some form of logical failing, but I can't remember which.

Well, it's certainly a Slippery Slope, and it's probably also a False Dilemma (or maybe a False Cause). I have clearly been outside my philosophy training for way too long.

I really enjoy reading your posts about anime and video games. I read that comment before and I was down-right incensed that someone would say that to you! That was just plain mean. I was going to kick them in the nuts, but I thought that would be counterproductive, and C4 seemed to be all over it, so I let them handle it.

You have interesting, insightful, and oftentimes very funny thoughts about anime and video games and it would be a tragedy to loose that. I'm glad you're back!

Well, if you like posting to LJ and sharing your opinions, then the world can go hang itself on its opinions. Pursuant to that, I adore reading your perspective on just about anything, up to and including lint and dust bunnies.

On the other hand, if you aren't feeling "it" any more with LJ-style communication, don't force it; give yourself the space. Entertainment comes easier when it isn't out of mere obligation. Usually!
