Did I say "week"?
Aug. 1st, 2008 10:32 pmI suppose I meant until the end of the week.
Feeling better, though. Apparently I just need to get out of the apartment more, spend more time reading and letting my brain filter things instead of going "HEY ONLINE WORLD, ANYTHING NEW IN THE LAST SIX MINUTES?" and such.
Still... I feel okayish. Made plans to go see the new Mummy film on Monday, to avoid the opening-weekend rush. Deliberately NOT reading about it. Maybe I just need to stop saturating myself with other people's opinions? That part -really- felt nice.
Anyway. Back. I'm not very deep, soul-cleansing doesn't take long.

Date: 2008-08-04 01:47 am (UTC)They've, ah, they've ruined it by fixing it with patches.
You now die if you walk underwater.
The horses respond (almost) how you'd expect.
There are no weird physics when trying to reach certain previously broken areas.
Alchemy is restricted now to things that technically make sense.
Horses will no longer go flying off ledges.
Drops at low levels are scaled better, so insanely good stuff doesn't show up until it's more appropriate. (The curse is still really broken though.)
The HP and overall stats for NPCs has been jacked up so they're nearly impossible to kill until you hit Level 18 or so.
NPCs now call guards when attacked and aggro everyone in town, so attacking one generally results in burning death.
Guards never forget if you killed someone or broke into a house--the "pay your crimes off" is gone, meaning murder breaks the game since you can never go into that town/village/city again without being beaten to a pulp.
You can't use Resurrect on civilians, only hostile mobs. This closes the "kill someone, loot them, rez them, carry on" exploit and means murdering townspeople is now strongly penalized--it actually destroys the game if you do it right.
Now it just plays like the bastard child of Diablo and Gothic. I'm enjoying it in a weird way--it's certainly duller than dirt--and might try it again later unpatched. (Saves are of course not compatible across versions.)
