So little time! (It's complicated.)
Jan. 31st, 2008 08:00 pmOkay... so.
Had a cold, now recovering. Drinkable asprin/alka seltzer seems to work really well on me. Maybe it's the liquid part, rehydration -good-.
Been playing through Tsukihime, the Metal Gear Solid series, Mother 3, and Assassin's Creed. Should pick Nightmare of Druuaga back up too.
Reading. Need to curl up with manga and some of the novels we picked up for Christmas. Have been behind on taking in more words. I -need- those words to make more and better words with!
Prozac is massively more effective on me than paroxtine, and as a bonus it seems to have killed withdrawl -dead-. I'm now thinking more effectively, not being an giant douche to people (TERRIBLY IMPORTANT) and generally doing better.
Working on a game design idea with a friend. Not contributing much, but it's an awesome concept just the same.
One thing I've been thinking of, mind... I need s'more music. What I have, I've heard and heard and heard again. Going to have to look into that.
Anything else I should talk about? *peer at audience*

Date: 2008-02-01 01:23 pm (UTC)Here is concept, ya: The Player represents The Guru/The Zen Master/etc, an exceptionally awesome and elite master of all things Stereotypically Adventurer. After choosing a location and opening a school, the Player will be allowed to chose a small (three at the most) number of new students to pass his arts to over the course of one year, divided into 12 one-month cycles. At the end of this year, the students who have not failed, died, or lost interest will Graduate, and will either go off to be Heroes/Villians (depending on their disposition) or will stay with the Guru and contribute their own abilities and traits to his already expansive pool of knowledge. Then the cycle begins again.
While the Player is teaching each successive generation of students, those who have already graduated and gone out into the world will adventure their hearts out, gaining levels and saving lives (or taking them) in the background. In essence, The Player represents the never-seen trainers and scholars who raise Adventure And RPG Characters. All the while, the Player is working to maintain and develop their school, gaining more and more powerful students and becoming famous throughout the world.
Students all have their own stats, personalities (to an extent anyways), and often have specialized innate traits which, should they chose to become a teacher, will be passed to the The Teacher as something he can try to train into future students. Depending on where you choose to build the school, students of different proclivities and potential will be in the queue--if you build next to The Palace, you'll get a lot of soldiers, but if you build in the Slums you'll get sickly drug addicts and petty thieves.
The Player's primary goal is to raise an adventurer who will either overthrow The Supreme Evil or become The Supreme Evil, thus making The Player the greatest teacher of adventurers in history; this has a 30 cycle time-limit. Alternately, The Player can raise enough Students as Teachers that the school continues on after his death at the 30 cycle mark, ensuring that an adventurer of supreme calibre will come eventually, but not during his lifetime.
