Mostly for the woof's eyes, but...
So yet again my eyes have turned to the PS3. We're strongly considering getting one, now that the price has come down significantly from FIVE HUNDRED NINETY NINE US DOLLARS and back into the realm of what us apartment-dwelling slobs can afford.
Here's a list of what my eyes have been set on, because the woof asked me to write up what I've been looking at.
Exclusives or games with big reasons to own the PS3 version only. Still love the 360, multiplatform releases will probably go to that. Also, Gamefly will account for much of this, I'm thinking.
Top Tier-
Valkyria Chronicles - Wanted this since day one. Not owning it has made me sad. NO LONGER SHALL THIS GO UNSATED. Strategy gunning with the Skies of Arcadia characters, ho!
Atelier Rorona - Hang out bein' an alchemist. Like Recettear, but on Hard Mode. This comes out the 28th.
Disgaea 3: The Absence of Justice - Get up, go to school, end the world. Also do this in the game. (Has insane DLC pack. Is this worth it? Bluh bluh, huge price, bluh bluh, character storm.)
Uncharted / Uncharted 2 - Nolan North's life is actually exactly like these game. True fact.
Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes - AH YOU READY GUYS? PUTYA GUNNZ ON! Also has Ieyasu Tokugawa as a hoodie-wearing ancient Japanese FISTPUNCHER YEAAAAAAAH. MAY MY FFFFISTS UNITE ALL! There is basically no fucking way I'm not going to MAKE OUT with this game when it shows up.
Folklore - From the people who brought you Shin Megami Tensei, a dark story about faeries and Irish people and using motion control to mug monsters for their spiritual powers.
Cross Edge - Strategy crossover RPG madness. Again, I am told this is kind of a horrible grind. "Like an Idea Factory game", I was told. I -love- Idea Factory. There are actually Idea Factory characters IN this thing. Thus, I crave.
Trinity Universe - Basically the same thing as Cross Edge, except a semi-roguelike instead of a strat-RPG. Even MORE niche. Even MORE sexy to me. I am so broken.
Second Tier-
Infamous - Like Prototype, except instead of Venom, you're Electro. I am a superhero whore.
Little Big Planet/LBP2 - With the second game able to play any level made in the first, do I -need- the first? But it's cheaper, and LBP2 is delayed 'til January. Hrm. Anyway. I am also a physics whore.
Heavy Rain - Game from the guy who did Indigo Prophecy, which I enjoyed in spite of/because of it being completely batshit insane. Odds are good that will apply here too. Likely a rental title though.
Eternal Sonata - Not an exclusive, but the PS3 version seems to have more Stuff in it. More stuff in RPG = Better.
3D Dot Game Heroes - Did you like the original Legend of Zelda? Here it is again, but AWESOMER. PIXELS.
Demon's Souls - This game is so hard it may go back in time and stab my grandparents. I'm told it's worth it anyway. (Seriously, you are dead on the box art, and then the TUTORIAL kills you. HARDCORE.)
Yakuza 3 - I am -really- tempted to finish 1 and play 2 first. But... VIOLENCE.
Ratchet and Clank Future - Again, should play the PS2 ones first... but then, yes. Straight to this.
Katamari Forever - Naaaa nanana na naaa naaaa naa...
Low Tier -
Star Ocean: The Last Hope - More Star Ocean. Play as EDGE MAVERICK, a name that makes me want to do a jump-kick.
Lair - I am told by reliable sources that this game is terrible. It also has dragons in it. FUCKING DRAGONS FLYING AROUND GOING RAR I AM A DRAGON. Raaaar. I'm gonna end up playing this thing somehow.
Afrika - Wildlife photography as a video game. Go out on the veldt and play RL Pokemon Snap. I realize this sounds boring, but... I have a weakness for this kind of thing. Remember Everblue 2? Speaking of which...
Aquanaut's Holiday - Only available via import. Dive under the sea. Discover fish and undersea adventure. Downside is it's HOLY GOD expensive. Sigh.
Pain - Yes, a game called Pain. It is about slamming ragdoll physics characters face-first into things. It is downloadable and cheap and did I mention the physics thing I have going?
The Sly Cooper Collection - All three Sly Cooper games. I only own the second. Is it worth picking up the other two? Possibly.
The ICO/SotC Collection - A complete shoe-in for purchase. When it actually y'know comes -out-.
Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom - A budget game about dungeon hacking. ... Look, I like those. This is a last resort though.
Last Rebellion - This is after the last resort. It sounds -interesting-... an RPG with locational body targeting. But it's apparently bad enough that the president of NIS America -apologized- for releasing it. Hrm.
Anyone with a PS3 want to chime in? (No, I will not be talked out of Cross Edge or Trinity Universe.)
