You can pretty much end Sable any time you feel like, and that fits with the narrative structure of it. You ... (Well, Sable really, she very much has her own personality and drives) are a futuristic masked tribal person on a sort of planetary rumspringa, free to wander as you like before you come back to the tribe, pick a permanent job-mask, and settle down for a long adulthood.

Until you choose to stop, you can wander the planet on your jetbike doing whatever you want. Delve into the past, solve problems in the present, or just climb around finding stuff. It's a lovely visual style, and there's a fair amount of (extremely signposted with landmarks) things to explore.

In the end, though, you have to either quit the game and leave it untouched, never going back... or you have to admit to being an adult, choose your mask, and come home to live. All your adventures are at least nominally in service of figuring out what kind of adult life you'd want Sable to lead, like the world's dustiest vocational training.

It's an interesting way to run a game. I left a lot undone because I was curious about the outcome if I picked a particular mask. I may or may not go back to it. Yes, there's a lot undone, but I picked what I thought was true and went with it. Maybe I'd choose different with more options?

Maybe.
