Far beyond the sea lies fortune
- Unleash the Archers: Tonight We Ride

I think the sea is the only place I haven't walked, looking for some of these quest goals. But I'm getting there in the end.

The thing about WoW Classic, as some sneeringly put it, is that it doesn't hold your hand. It doesn't pander to your need to know where every little thing is.

Quest targets don't glow enticingly, there are no particular arrows to show you where on the map you're meant to jog your adorable level 14 butt out to find adventure, questgivers are like as not to send you out to an entirely different zone with a shrug and an offer of a couple silver, you'll get your quest to collect hooves off a centaur only to discover they've apparently been hovering around on rocket nozzles for all the hooves they don't have, and while you've been looking at the centaurs every wolf inside a nine mile radius has airdropped in behind with orders to gank your ass and leave you dead in the middle of WolfCon 2019: Now With More Wolves.

I like it.
I don't like it.
I'm enjoying it.
I'm intensely frustrated by it.

There's a joy in doing things yourself, navigating to your destination with only a map and some vague instructions. I downloaded an add-on called "Questie", which gives you map blips for all the quests you're on. I took a look at it, played for about fifteen minutes, turned it back off. I turned it back on once to check where something was, went "Huh. I would not have found that." and turned it off again.

So there's that.

But, at the same time, there's a LOT of running. A lot of slow aimless plodding across the very red-orange sand, a lot of opening the quest journal to go "Okay, you wanted WHAT again?", a lot of wondering if my weapons suck or if it's just me.

A quick trip to the auction house confirmed it was the weapons, by the way. That's what you get when you don't replace something for like nine solid levels.

So on one hand I'm really digging my return to the Old School Days, and on the other hand I'm missing several features from the live version.

It is almost as if both Classic and Live have their own merits and drawbacks and it is not a simple good thing/bad thing binary.
Good luck getting The Internet to swallow THAT one though.

Anyway in the end the only addon mod I kept was Immersion, a dialog frame replacer which I'm now using in both games.

[4:26 PM] REDACTED: I was waiting to see if you'd notice.
