Diabetes Consulting Results
Aug. 19th, 2019 03:36 pm"So this is just a finger-prick." said the very nice lady who was telling me about diabetes management. "We're gonna want to look at your blood sugar and your A1C levels again, see if they've gone up a little, down a little... we're just going to establish a baseline, sort of. We'll be seeing how they move up and down over time and that'll help us track what you're doing right."
So my finger got poked, and she watched the meters.
"That's ... quite a jump. ...are you sure these original results are yours?" she asked, after a minute.
My original A1C results, on 7/12, were 9.1. This is sort of in the "dangerous" range, thus why they asked me to hurry in.
My results today were 6.7, which is not perfect but is quite a drop.
"I did switch to rye bread." I offered.
"How many sandwiches a day were you eating?" she asked in faint disbelief.
So... some medication. Metformin, one pill a day, with food.
Walk around more. I'm going to try to start getting out and walking around the block at 3 AM or whenever I'm comfortable and few people are around. I need better pants for that. Mine keep trying to fall off.
Keep eating right. Vegetables, meats. Less carbs, but some are okay. The right kind. I have a chart.
"By the way," she asked as I was leaving, "Did you know you've dropped six pounds in the last month?"
Mmh. Salads and rye bread and walking. Maybe this won't be all that hard?
