"Dear Pokemon Comics. I love reading your comic. Will you have any crossovers from other old WB cartoons? I would love to see a story with that armored suited guy who got all the character development. Thank you. -- Sam, Richmond VA."

"Dear Sam, we here at the office are not sure who you mean! Do you maybe mean that Nightwing kid from the Batman show? If so, he is far too much of a wacky cartoon loser to be in Pokemon. Also he died. Sorry! - Writing Staff."

From a comic book letters page, in a dream I just woke up from. What the -hell- does my subconscious have against Nightwing, anyway? *boggle*

Sometimes I hit a website that makes me wish I'd come up with it myself.

Myths Retold is one of them. Pop over to the Smorgasboard, or start reading them at random, and you may agree.

One thing I really love about the Internet is how it's given voice to this really super-casual, laid back style of conversationally-toned writing. You can find just about anything in a loose informal style now, and that feels good. It makes me wonder how my old teachers who were all about structure and formalism feel about that.

Not that I exactly disagree with them, but I feel a lot better when I don't -have- to conform to a particular style. It has uses in research papers and other such academia, but... I don't know. I prefer light breezy writing to stiff formal tones. Always have.
