Where Tradition Meets Thanksgiving
Nov. 24th, 2006 07:50 amWent out to join the woof's brother and his family for Devour Everything day, as we've been doing the last few years. It was nice. There was a pagan blessing around the table as everyone linked hands, candles were burning, fricking awesome stuffing and carrots were available, the turkey was fantastic, conversation ranged from squirrels to bad Scooby Doo rip-offs (Speed Buggy and Scmoo were the worst, Jabberjaw the best) and after dinner Kat (woofbro wife) and I ducked off and chattered about dealing with negative energy in day to day life.
It's weird to feel more at home with someone else's family than your own. But when I accidentally blurted "Whoa, I picked the right boyfriend." as a follow-up punchline, our half of the table (Kat, woofsister, woofsisterboyfriend, and woof) laughed along approvingly. (The other half either didn't hear or didn't care.)
So... I think I found somewhere nice. Next step is using this momentum to see what I can do with my biological family. We'll likely be visiting for Christmas, and... well. It'll be my first time home, and OUR first time visiting as a couple. I do not intend to hide this or overtly strain myself to make them feel 'okay' about it. How that works out... well, we'll see, huh?
In lighter news, have a review of a game about a cute purple dragon. Spyro the Dragon: A New Beginning, covered as always at Worthplaying.
