May. 4th, 2006 10:39 amI don't usually write about game stuff here in my journal (or anywhere else, anymore) but I think this is really cool and I kind of want it to have a wide audience. Inform 7 has just been released, and god DAMN but it's cool.
Inform is a parser for writing Interactive Fiction, also known as text adventures. Part of the source code for a game written in the previous version, Inform 6, would look something like this:

If you think it's neat, check out the website. it's certainly very very readable, learnable code. I -like- it. A lot. Not enough to get me writing in it and seriously trying to do a game, but I do admire the heck out of this.
