xyzzysqrl: A moogle sqrlhead! (Nostalgia and Rodents)
We've got title sign!
...sorry. Okay, let's start this off.

Set, ready... Toss!

---
Sqrl, at food court of mall: "So I'm trying to remember the name of that book they keep comparing to Fool's Errand."
Woof, also at food court: "What book?"
Sqrl: "See, if I could remember..."
Woof: "Ah."
Sqrl: "I think it was by a Christopher. Right! Maze, by... Christopher... M. It started with M. Marlowe. Melon. Melty."
Woof and Sqrl: "It was definately an M word!"
Sqrl, continuing: "M*hrrmfhrrrmf!"
Woof: "Mistermeister Meistermister."
---

Therefore, there now needs to be a band named Mistermeister Meistermister. Damnit.

And reload and HEAVE!

The reason I was at the mall in the first place was to spend my gift cards, small plastic thingies which count as money you can only spend in one place. Ours were for Waldenbooks, and together we managed about $160. Which was a bit of a shame, because we only had about $120 in cards. Oops. Still, for that we managed a HELL of a lot of paperbacks, which is good, all my paperbacks were thrown out when I moved out. As such we replaced some of those and got some new ones. Also a pair of anime DVDs, Jin-Roh and Read or Die. ... Read or Die, by the way, is a bit obtuse in spots but otherwise damn near perfect. I'm looking into finding the TV series now.

Feel free to pull these up on Amazon or something and give me your opinions and tell me why I should've bought something else.

In random order, as I pull them fron the bag:
The full list )

Of these books, the first I starred to read was On Basilisk Station, which I'm liking because it's in that Elizabeth Moon-ish, Anne McCaffery-on-a-brainship-bender, CJ Cherryh-on-a-bad-day subgenre of "Female military commander in space opera setting overcomes incredible opposing odds and internal politics" which by all rights I should be counting as a guilty pleasure. I don't, though. Any further suggestions in this subgenre are appriciated.

Toss another one!

So am I the only person who, when offered a choice of soft drink at a fast food place, invariably pushes the "plain soda water" button? Can drinking soda water straight hurt you? I'm just curious. I like the taste of it.

...And a salvo of finishing shots

I now own, with the Mac Action Sack in my hands, every game Bungie has ever commercially released. This along with my collection of all the plot-canon Resident Evil games and my collection of every game Bioware's ever released allows me to form some sort of God Damn Useless Geeky Video Gamer Hat Trick. (With special notice of the fact that I CARE that there are non-canon Resident Evil games.) All I need now is a Marvel No-Prize and I'll have Nerd Bingo.

This reminds me that yes, that complete list of multiplayer titles is coming. I've been a little busy lately and haven't been able to poke about online as much as I want... which, really, I can see as a good thing I suppose. The offers for anything Marathon-related, Unreal Tournament-wise, Freedom Force based, or Serious Sam-able remain, though. Full list to come.

Glasses work better when you're wearing them.
