10 things you probably didn't know about me:

1. The front of my computer case, and the top of my monitor, both bear Atari logo stickers. I feel marginally annoyed that they came from Neverwinter Nights boxes.

2. I've cried at least once per season while watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Usually this was during the season end episodes.

3. I'm allergic to salmon, or so I tell people. Actually I just react badly to it. I can't taste salmon without spitting it out and choking violently. It's an instant reaction, and one that faintly annoys me, because salmon LOOKS tasty.

4. My soda of choice is Dr. Pepper, but given the chance I'll drink unflavored soda water and like it better than anything else. Mmm, bittery.

5. For a while in middle school I tried to put up a front of being a cruel and casually mean person, because I noticed all the people who were well liked around me were cruel and casually mean to me. It didn't work and only made me even MORE depressed because my mindset seems distinctly Not Like That, so I decided to be as strange as I liked and to hell with with what anyone thought of it. This is more or less the attitude that holds with me today, to a limited extend. If I could ask for anything it would be to be free of guilt, because I apologize too much and feel bad about things I can't control. I'm not sure if it counts as self loathing, but I don't feel right about enjoying myself or feeling the way I honestly feel unless someone else says it's okay first.

6. When I was around twelve or so I racked up a phone bill of over $800 by phoning every BBS in the state and several outside. My parents agreed to an internet connection only after I conclusively proved to them that there would be no long distance charges for accessing anything outside our area code.

7. I've always had a facination with riboflavin, even before finding that The Adventures of Pete and Pete called it 'the mineral that enables time travel'. When I'm bored and there's a wrapper or box of food laying around, I check the riboflavin content.

8. I'm afraid of a lot of things. I don't know if they're phobias, but an offhand list of the fears that leave me twitching and shivering when I think too hard about them would include: Fear of the dark (yes, still), a fear of being completely alone, and a fear of developing aphasia. That last one has been pinging hard for me lately, with a series of nightmares over the last few weeks.

9. My middle name is Edward.

10. This entry was originally titled "Ten Tens", and contained a number of fairly boring lists. ("Ten People That Influenced My Life", "Ten Favorite Foods", etc.) I realized that if I was bored WRITING them, no one would want to read them. I trimmed it down to this list instead.

736. I often worry that large chunks of what I remember about my childhood didn't really exist. I have vivid memories of having a sister, but I didn't. The person I remember as my "sister" was actually an older cousin. I remember watching shows like "Read All About It" on TV, but nothing I can find says they were on TV at any time in Maryland. This is probably part of why I like to write in my webjournal: If I wrote it down at the time, I can't be imagining it happened when I look it up later. Probably.
