Recordkeeping: Transformers - War for Cybertron COMPLETE
Truth has its moment
And right always wins
Prepare for the fight
let the battle begin!
I'm just a sucker for this kind of thing, y'know?
So I had wanted to play Fall of Cybertron finally, since it's been chilling in my Steam library far too long untouched. The last time I played War for Cybertron, however, was back in 2012. That's a long time for a sqrlmog brain to retain details! ... So it hadn't.
So I played it again. It technically COUNTS as a new complete because I hadn't finished it while I was recordkeeping. Semantics!
As to the game itself, mmm... well, it's all right. It's a post-Gears of War third person shooter, but there's not a lot of cover-system antics. There is a lot of fog and dull muted colors, and because this is set in the Transformers Prime-verse the robots are very boxy boys against very greebletacular backgrounds.
In other words, I often had trouble SEEING ANYTHING I was supposed to shoot! The Autobot campaign is easier because Decepticons have bright purple glowing lights on them most of the time, making them easier to pick out against the background. Fifteen minutes with some masking tape and either army could become unstoppable.
Transforming feels really good in this one, though. They even modeled the thing where you drive up really fast and transform and skiiiid across the room into a melee attack. I love that.
I also love that you get a Decepticon campaign in which you break everything and an Autobot campaign where you fix most things. Factional campaign levels woo~.
I'm not sure where you get these games anymore. Steam's de-listed them and Amazon prices are goddamn ridiculous -- I briefly thought about picking up the Movieverse "Rise of the Dark Spark" because it uses the same engine as this one, but even if it was a phenomenal game (which by all accounts, it ain't) $87 for a PS4 copy is like -whaaaaaat-.
Even the $50 PC game code Amazon's selling is like ... I like Transformers but DAMN I don't like them that much.
Still, I have Fall of Cybertron and I'm gonna play it 'cause hell yeah fighting robots.

It might need a NoCD crack, though. I think it used SecuROM. (I know it wasn't Starforce.)
