You should try corn on the cob. It requires two things :
1. Water 2. Corn on the cob
Shuck the corn (remove the green stuff and silky stuff). Break off the end if its a bit long, or use a knife to cut it close to the corn-bearing-goodness.
Get a big pot, fill with water about 1/3, add corn, fill with water to about 1/2 full with the corn in the pot. (corn floats, so check it isn't floating.) Turn on heat. Put pot on burner, turn heat to a bit past the mid-point (so its more that 50% heat. 60% is about right). Wait for water to start boiling. Count off 7 minutes or a bit more, use tongs to remove corn from pot and pile on a plate. (If you lack tongs, use two long-handled implements to grab each cob. Long handles are key, boiling water is HOT.) **Turn heat off!
Wait til corn is just a bit hotter than cool enough to eat, and serve. Preferably with butter and salt or whatever you like :) By the time you are seated, and the corn is buttered/salted/whatever to taste, it will have cooled enough to eat.
